FREE Webinar for HITA Members- Remote Simultaneous Interpreting from a different perspective
May 9 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
COVID-19 and subsequent worldwide lockdowns have forced governments to implement measures that triggered the virtualization of economic and social relations. Even when cloud-based interpreting platforms and video conferencing apps are not a novelty, this unexpected situation transformed the way interpreters used to work. Being in lockdown might be a great chance to catch up on many fronts related to interpreting and technology. However, technology is one of the many tools used when people communicate their ideas and do business.
The emphasis placed on the technology and hardware related to RSI risks leaving aside other crucial aspects of communicative events and the life cycle of the provision of a professional service. In this webinar interpreters will be presented with several questions to understand how RSI changes the way interpreters used to work and identify the degree of adaptation required to offer RSI as a professional service. In sum, this short course addresses remote simultaneous interpretation (RSI) from the perspective of communication and the provision of a quality professional service during and after the coronavirus crisis.
- COVID-19 and virtualization of communications
- Should I diversify my portfolio of services?
- RSI seen from a different perspective
